Welcome to the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon

THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF MOUNT VERNON offers programs for youth in our community to help them learn and grow in a safe, fun environment.

Every day, our dedicated, highly trained staff and volunteers serve over 1,400 youth members with a wide variety of engaging, interactive activities and programs to help them improve their self- esteem, develop positive values, and achieve their highest potential in academic success.

THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF MOUNT VERNON develops today’s youth into tomorrow’s leaders! Our goal is to have every Club Member be on path to graduate from high school with a viable plan for their future.

In every community in America, young boys and girls are often left to find their own recreation.  An increasing number of these children are at home, with little or no adult care or supervision.  Boys & Girls Clubs offer a safe place to learn and grow – and have fun doing it!

The Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon helps guide young people to position for a path to a great future.  We provide a safe, affordable place to engage with them during non-school hours.

OUR MISSION

To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

OUR VISION

To provide a world class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. To carry out our mission, we set three simple goals for our members.

Academic Success – Assure all members are on time to graduate from high school.
Healthy Lifestyles – Teach members the value of eating well and exercise.
Civic Responsibility – Get members engaged in performing community service.

Our History

The Boys Club of Mount Vernon opened in 1912 to accommodate for the growing social programs and lack of organized facilities serving youth in the City of Mount Vernon, NY.

To recognize the fact that girls are a part of our cause, the national organization’s name was changed to Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 1990.   Accordingly, the Boys Club of Mount Vernon became the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon.  The Club obtained formal recognition of its tax – exempt status by the IRS in 1956 and moved into the current building on South Sixth Avenue.

I believe in America and the American way of life…in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I believe in fair play, honesty and sportsmanship.

I believe in my Boys & Girls Club, which stands for these things.
